Working in pencils and charcoal, participants will focus on refining basic drawing skills using still life objects and photographs for future classes in oil, pastel, watercolor, and acrylics.

Watercolor
Create a painting you will be proud to hang. Learn what makes a good painting - composition, light sources, color - as well as watercolor techniques and the unique qualities of watercolor.

Painting with Texture & Color

Instructor: Rhonda Counts
Learn various processes of applying textures to prep a canvas followed by the application of color with mixed mediums. A variety of materials and techniques will be utilized in assorted ways to yield artwork for beginning or experienced artists looking for a new challenge and creative outlet.

Drawing Techniques: Try It and Like It

Learn assorted drawing techniques with charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, pastel, and art markers. Practice the basics in portraiture, manga, anime, cartooning, and still life. Explore your imagination and learn how to translate ideas into successful drawings.

Manga and Illustration

Learn all about different styles of illustration, with a focus on the popular Japanese style. Students will explore drawing techniques to develop their own drawings and comics.

Revising Prose

Through discussion, writing exercises, and workshop, you will revise your fiction and/or non-fiction based on self- and class-generated questions, sentence-level critiques, plot points, details to show what can’t be said, scene vs. narration, and alternate points of view.

Basic Photography

In this introductory class, review basics in photography; learn all of YOUR camera’s buttons, dials, functions, settings, and modes; navigate those pesky sub menus; and understand how to use them. Very limited class size, so sign up early! Bring your own camera and manual.
