A native Pennsylvanian and an art educator, Alice began her studies as a child at the Wyomissing Institute of the Fine Arts. During these early years, her work was exhibited at the Institute and the Reading Public Museum.
Alice’s adult studies began as a sculpture major at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Her strength in interpreting form through color and value can be partly attributed to experiences of working with clay and from drawing numerous cast figures as a basic part of the Academy program. And honors degree was earned at Kutztown University, and further art experiences were followed at Penn State University, Pratt College of Art, and Parsons School of Design. This last college provided the opportunity for painting and drawing in Paris where the students lived at the Sorbonne, and painted in the streets of Paris and the French countryside.
Working mainly in oils, acrylics, and pastels, Alice’s subject matter extends from realistic to symbolic, but always emphasizing glowing colors and solid composition. She believes her wrk should exist primarily for communicating pleasure to the viewer.
