I began my art career as a retirement hobby following an elementary classroom teaching career. My hobby soon became a fulltime retirement career. My innate interest was manifested early by my serious dedication to early childhood coloring books; then teenage pastel paintings; and later, after college music degrees and later elementary classroom teaching, a focus on art by way of watercolor painting.
I took classes with Tara Funk Grim and James McFarland. My favorite themes are florals and landscapes. My mission is to produce works that I enjoy looking at, hoping others find enjoyment too.
I prefer my work to look fresh and spontaneous and love experiencing the painting happening spontaneously. I want to learn not to worry how a painting will turn out and lessen the sadness at not being able to consistently experience a successful painting.
Technical mastery is not my goal; but, rather, expressing a feeling I have about the subject I’m painting.
