Sandi’s life-long interests in butterflies and photography converge when she captures images of these colorful insects nectaring on naïve plants in the area’s meadows. And avid gardener, she lures them to her yard where she enjoys collecting eggs and caterpillars in order to document the life cycle.
Sandi became interested in photography in high school after taking a class at the Anvil Studio in Pottstown. She took additional photography classes at Lafayette College where she earned at B.A. in art/Economics and Tyler School of Art.
Sandi is a Master Gardener Volunteer through Penn State Cooperative Extension, Montgomery County, a member of the North American Butterfly Association. Sandi’s yard is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as an official Backyard Habitat Wildlife site. Her photos have been published in Memory Makers magazine.
She earned a Peyysylvania Association of Elementary School Principals Service to Children Award for creating the outdoor classroom at Boyertown Area School District’s Washington Elementary School and a Keystone Press Award first place for a feature photo. Sandi’s served as a freelance photographer for Berks-Mont News.
