From the rural scenes of the northeast to the shores of the Atlantic, I search for interesting subjects that will stimulate the imagination and emotions of a viewer. More than just “portraits”, each of my watercolors has a story and depicts a moment preserved in time. I have “preserved” many subjects over the years, but sadly several such as ‘Anna and the Queen’ (a Seabright Skiff at Cape May Point State Park) and ‘Good Morning, America’ (the Gruber farmhouse in Boyertown) no longer exist.
My courses at Penn State University in Art, Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Landscape Architecture form the foundation for my realistic approach to painting. My color theory and techniques were further refined at the Baum School of Art in Allentown and continue through workshops, seminars, and lectures. In the exciting world of watercolor the learning never stops because every time I create a painting it seems I learn something new. But, as my fellow watercolorists will agree, some of our “learning experiences” are not always intentional. I’ve lost count of how many “happy accidents” I have had.
I was accepted into the Philadelphia Water Color Society’s annual juried “International Exhibition of Works on Paper” three years in a row and was rewarded with Signature Status Membership in 2015. In 2015′s exhibit I received the ‘Sandra Sawin Memorial Award for Representational Landscape in Watercolor’ for “Farquhar and the Foxtails”. “Sing ‘Pooh’ Again, Daddy has been accepted into the 2016 show being held at West Chester University in the fall.
I am a member of the Berks Art Alliance in Reading; the Perkiomen Valley Art Center in Harleysville; the Greater Norristown Art League; and, Studio B in Boyertown. My award winning watercolors have been shown in the Reading Public Museum; the Goggleworks in Reading; the Baum School in Allentown; the Hill School Center for the Arts in Pottstown; and, the Avalon NJ Performing Arts Council Annual Art Show and Sale. My work is in the collections of many private and corporate patrons throughout the Published limited edition Giclee art prints of my award winning originals (*) International Show)
